Brand-new Boreas installs 45 monopiles on maiden task

Dutch marine civils giant Van Oord has set its brand-new wind turbine installation vessel to work, hailing completion of 45 monopiles at the Nordseecluster A offshore wind farm.

Boreas is the first vessel in the company’s fleet to be equipped with dual-fuel engines that can run on methanol, and it can operate in waters up to 70 metres deep, ideal for the new era of 20MW+ turbines.
