Jet propelling propulsion efficiency for workboats
Marine Jet Power (MJP) unveiled its newest addition to its waterjet portfolio, the X-HT at Seawork 2024.
Designed for exceptional efficiency in low to medium speed applications (up to 35 knots), the X-HT particularly targets windfarm crew transfer vessels (CTVs) but boasts wider applicability for various workboats.
“The X-HT jets delivers more thrust compared to other jets in the same range and is optimised for efficiency at slow speeds,” Robert Magnusson, global sales director, MJP, told Maritime Journal.
“Its particularly well-suited for vessels operating in and around windfarms, where precise maneuvering and consistent power are essential for safety.”

Waterjet efficiency
Since its inception in 2018, MJP has constantly been evolving the X-Series with its advanced design and performance.
The introduction of the X-HT continues this legacy, offering enhanced capabilities tailored for vessels that require high thrust at slower speeds. Away from windfarm CTVs this includes passenger ferries, patrol boats and other utility vessels.
The X-HT series boasts a compact design that allows for larger diameter jets to be installed in narrower hulls, optimising performance without compromising space.
Additionally, the lower-input power capability of the X-HT ensures it remains lightweight and cost-effective to operate, crucial for the efficiency and sustainability of windfarm operations.
The X-HT is currently available in a range of sizes and power ratings – the 280 X-HT, 310 X-HT, and 350 X-HT, with maximum power ratings of 611 kW, 800 kW, and 1000 kW respectively.
This range of options ensures that there is a suitable model for a variety of vessel types and operational requirements.
