Kongsberg inks major subsea vessel deal

Developed in close collaboration with Olympic, the UT7623 sustainable energy vessels (SEV) will be equipped will feature methanol-ready dual-fuel capabilities and hybrid battery power systems.

“These vessels represent the latest offering from our extensive ship design portfolio,” said Per Kristian Furø, sales director at Kongsberg Maritime.

“They are methanol-ready dual fuel, and have a fully electric propulsion system, setting new benchmarks in the industry for energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

“They are vessels that not only meet but exceed the demands of modern offshore operations and will do so with extremely low fuel consumption.”

Key innovations include rim-drive electric azimuth propulsion, retractable azimuth bow thrusters and a suite of automation and control systems.

The vessels will also be fitted with dynamic positioning systems, tank sounding, mooring winches, and an overhead ROV launch and recovery system.

These vessels are set to operate in both renewable energy and oil and gas sectors, with construction taking place at the CMHI shipyard in Shenzhen, China.
