Milford Haven lays keel for pilot vessel

This vessel marks the beginning of a long-term, multi-million pound investment programme aimed at enhancing the port’s pilotage capabilities and ensuring top-tier operations at the UK’s leading energy port.

“This new vessel represents our commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence,” said Mike Ryan, harbourmaster at the Port of Milford Haven.

“As the UK’s leading energy port, we understand the importance of having world-class infrastructure in place to support our customers and maintain our competitive advantage.”

The new vessel is designed to provide increased safety, reliability and efficiency and features advanced safety mechanisms, improved sea-keeping abilities, and state-of-the-art technology to navigate challenging conditions effectively.

“The construction has started for an extra ordinary vessel in terms of technical and comfort capabilities combined with self-righting,” commented Dirk Keizer, technical director at Next Generation Shipyards.

“By providing more than just a vessel, NGS is also involved in maintenance and training programmes so we can support the vessel and crew in operations where necessary.”

The vessel is scheduled for completion in 2025.
