Vard delivers advanced cable-laying vessel
Norwegian shipbuilder Vard has delivered what it calls a state-of-the-art cable-laying vessel to Danish subsea firm NCT Offshore.
The delivery was made less than two years after the contract was signed, the firm says, and marks a ‘significant milestone’ in the ongoing collaboration between the two companies.
NCT Offshore, which has ‘roots deeply embedded’ in offshore wind, has been operating in the sector for more than 20 years.
The new vessel is based on Vard’s 9 01 design, with a length of 95 metres and bollard pull of more than 60 tonnes.
With a cable capacity of 4,500 tonnes, it has DP2 positioning, a hybrid propulsion system and ROVs capable of ploughing, trenching and other subsea tasks.
The unnamed vessel is being prepared for her maiden voyage to Denmark, where she will be fitted and tested.
