WATCH: Van Oord christens record-breaking vessel

Boreas christening

Van Oord has finally christened the biggest investment it has ever made – the mammoth offshore wind installation vessel that it says is the largest and most sustainable in the world.

Christened by Rotterdam mayor Carola Schouten, Boreas, who was the Greek god of the Northern winds, is 175 metres long with a crane boasting a 155m-high boom that can lift more than 3,000 tonnes. She is capable of installing massive 20MW turbines, which are about the same height as the Eiffel Tower.
