Watson & Hillhouse have been supplying a PVE 2316VM variable moment vibratory hammer to marine specialists Baker Trayte Marine on the UK south coast.
Baker Trayte based in Southsea, Hampshire, is driving new steel piles to replace existing piles for moorings on the River Hamble.
Baker Trayte’s 30 x 11.2 metre marine piling barge carries the piles and equipment including a crane which suspends the PVE vibratory hammer enabling it to drive the 355mm diameter tubes, with a 16mm wall thickness, 9 metres into the river bed.
The piles are driven approximately 12 metres apart to allow mooring pontoons to be attached between them, then the Baker Trayte marine barge is moved into the next position using their tug Forceful.
