Regular Seawork exhibitor and propulsion specialist WaterMota has announced it has been bought by the Netherlands based B&N Group after more than 100 years of independence.

“I don’t want to retire,” said Mike Beacham, managing director of Watermota, “but I’ll be 70 in three years’ time and I’m looking for an exit strategy.”

Headquartered in Twello, the B&N Group consists of Brinkmann & Niemeijer Motoren BV, De Maas BV, Sound Proof Systems BV and B&N Foreign Activities BV. The group specialises in diesel engines, power plants, pump sets, power packs and sound absorbing cases, supplying to the industrial market as well as the shipping and pleasure boating market.

“The acquisition gives WaterMota the strength of a larger group which is extremely highly regarded and gives us a comprehensive presence in the industrial market, which is one of our growth areas,” Mr Beacham told Maritime Journal's sister magazine BB. “WaterMota will remain an individual company but as a group we will be able to share knowledge and draw on the strengths of the other companies and staff within the group.”

Frans Heuvelman, Group CEO, added: “WaterMota is a very old established, respected company. Adding it to the B&N Group will enhance the range that we are able to offer our customers and expand our range and knowledge in the marine market where WaterMota is a specialist.”
