6G orders for Sonardyne
Sonardyne International has received a £1m order from Abedeen-based distributor Seatronics for its 6G acoustic positioning technology comprising multi-function Compatt 6 transponders, Ranger 2 USBL positioning systems and high-performance gyro-USBL receivers.
The equipment is to be used in West Africa to support survey and construction phases of a major new field development project involving structure installation, pipeline metrology, ROV tracking and touchdown monitoring.
Stocks of comparable 6G acoustic positioning systems have also been ordered by Forum Subsea Rentals for inclusion in the company’s Aberdeen rental pool. Replacing earlier fifth-generation versions, the new equipment will be available to support oil and gas field development projects worldwide.
