Seafarers’ children’s appeal
The King George’s Fund for Sailors charity, formed in 1917 as a result of the devastating impact of lives lost at sea during World War One and the need to support thousands of seafarers’ widows and orphans, has launched an appeal to promote and increase the support it gives to the children of seafarers.
The aim of the Seafarers UK Children’s Appeal is to raise more funds to help seafarers’ families when they need it most. Those who work at sea face one of the most dangerous working environments; inevitably some seafarers never return home. In these most extreme circumstances the families, and most importantly the children, should receive all the help and support that can be provided.
Seafarers UK receives no Government support and the charity is heavily dependent on donations from corporate supporters, individuals and gifts in wills. Donations to the Seafarers UK Children’s Appeal can be made online at www.seafarers-uk.org or by phoning 020 7932 0000.
