Offshore simulator installed at PAEN

A Transas Offshore and Dynamic Positioning simulator was recently installed at Pan Arab E-Navigation’s (PAEN) dynamic positioning training centre in Alexandria, Egypt.

The simulator enbales vital operations to be performed under challenging weather conditions

The Transas Offshore and Dynamic Positioning training solution is based on the Navi-Trainer Professional 5000 (Transas NTPRO 5000) navigational simulator platform. The simulator, which complies with offshore training requirements set by The Nautical Institute for Dynamic position training, enables crucial operations to be performed during a rig move project under demanding weather conditions.

Captain Eslam Zeid, PAEN general and operations manager, said: “PanArab E-Navigation is proud to be the key training provider for the offshore industry in our region. Transas Offshore simulator is a perfect contribution into this.”

The need for training is on the rise as the number of dynamic positioning (DP) operated units is increasing. Training scenarios include cargo transfers between rig and vessel, advanced DP training, retrieving the anchor with grapnel or buoy, deployment of the deck anchors using a permanent chaser or bridge system and organising of cargo and AH equipment on deck.
