Incat Crowther ferry for Yankee Fleet
A 34m Incat Crowther catamaran ferry has been designed and built in partnership with Boston based excursions company, Yankee Fleet and Gladding Hearn Shipbuilding.
The new ferry, Yankee Freedom III, has been added to the company’s fleet to improve environmental impact on the local environment and passenger comfort. In order to meet the environmental regulations regarding emissions, noise and wake wash as well as increase passenger comfort; the vessel has been created using the latest catamaran technology below the main deck.
While the exterior superstructure shape is in keeping with the Yankee Fleet’s design, the new vessel features an isolated superstructure to reduce the transmission of noise and improve comfort which is enhanced by an active interceptor.
Efficient LED lighting is used throughout to allow selection of smaller generators and vinyl laminate has been used in place of exterior paint to reduce weight and VOC emissions.
TheYankee Freedom III will take over the daily run from Key West to Dry Tortugas National Park and Fort Jefferson from the previous server.
