New partnership to develop daughter craft RIB
Netherland’s based operator, Vroon Offshore Services, (VOS) and UK based boat builder Delta Power Group, have combined their expertise to develop a new daughter craft RIB.
VOS approached Delta for seven new daughter craft RIBs for operation from its next generation ERRV mother vessels, currently being built in Nanjing, China.
The new vessels will be based on Delta’s long-running Phantom model. They will each measure 10.6m LOA and 3.36m wide. They are powered by Twin Yanmar 6BY-240 engines via twin Hamilton HJ241 waterjets.
Delta, who specialise in RIBs built for the rigours of use in rescue organisations, police and patrol authorities, are also subjecting the craft to rigorous testing to satisfy Bureau Veritas (BV), MCA and Vroon’s requirements, which has already started.
The first craft was tested back in August 2012 in Southampton, UK, and it passed with flying colours comfortably achieving 34 knots and carrying seven passengers.
The first two vessels have now been transported to China for further testing. When all testing has been completed in the UK and in China, the vessels will be reunited in UK waters prior to joining Froon’s fleet in the North Sea.
