Powercats starts 2013 with London Boat Show

The company starts 2013 with the delivery of another new Powercat 525, which will take place during the London Boat Show, to the Lancing Sea Scouts. The twin hull, multipurpose workboat, which will be operated on the south coast, will be used as a safety and rescue craft as well as for ferrying Sea Scouts to Brownsea Island during the summer months.

Meanwhile, Powercats will be showcasing an open deck version of the vessel, with twin Yamaha F40 motors, at the boat show alongside Yamaha, on stand C234.

Powercats received a number of orders for the Powercat 525 from both new and existing customers in 2012.

The Port of London Authority (PLA) commissioned its second Powercat 525 patrol vessel early last year. The vessel, which was on show at last year’s Seawork exhibition, was used by PLA to patrol the river Thames during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee river pageant and events linked to the London Olympics.

Isles of Scilly based Bryher Boatyard also ordered the 525 vessel in 2012, along with the Isle of Anglesey Council which ordered the new vessel to replace a 6.5m RIB along with a 4.8m workboat for mooring duties.

What makes the Powercat 525’s design so appealing, according to Powercats, is its efficient hull and unsinkable construction which reduces emissions and wash, while reducing slamming at high speeds in choppy waters.
