200th sale of AAE USBL systems
Applied Acoustic Engineering (AAE) of Great Yarmouth has recorded the 200th sale of its Easytrak series of Ultra Short Baseline (USBL) systems, to locally based rental company Sonar Equipment Services.
Sonar Equipment Services is already leasing out four of the underwater tracking units. Other users of systems extend from those in Canada and New Zealand to the Japanese and US Navies.
Centred on a multi-element single transducer that transmits and receives acoustic signals to and from dynamic subsea targets from which range, bearing and depth data can be determined, the Easytrak system has been specifically designed to track beyond-sight targets such as AUVs, ROVs, divers and towfish. Five versions are available, all capable of tracking multiple targets simultaneously with configurations including integral pitch, roll and heading sensors as well as GPS reception software.
Nexus, the latest rack mounted model, features a built in PC running embedded Windows XP. Positioning data is displayed on a separate monitor from where activities of up to ten subsea targets within a specified area can be monitored.
