Hydrographic heaven awaits at Ocean Business
The organisers of Ocean Business 2013, taking place from 9-11 April at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton UK, are pleased that the ocean technology community has chosen the show as the place to hold some of the biggest industry events of the year.
The International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) and International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) have chosen Ocean Business to jointly run a high profile workshop aimed at setting a forward looking strategy for the ‘Blue Economy’.The UK Hydrographic Society’s Southern and South Western regions will be holding a combined evening meeting and the IMarEST will host a networking reception to discuss the results and receive feedback on a global consultation on Marine Science Skills and Continuing Professional Development, which was carried out in 2012.
The Challenger Society is organising a workshop about the latest developments in microfluidics and sensor technology. The National Oceanography Centre will be holding a day event dedicated to the commercial exploitation of research and the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) will be showcasing its technology solutions, with the aim of developing commercial partnerships for products.
The Canadian High Commission will be hosting sessions about business and R&D opportunities for international companies in Canada. The Society of Maritime Industries have chosen to host their annual conference that looks at the application of advanced technology across the spectrum of the UK’s maritime engineering enterprise and the business opportunities that are emerging.
Ocean Business 2013 will be hosting the first ever Racal Survey Reunion. Open to Racal Survey, Racle Positioning, Thales GeoSolutions and Decca ex-employees on Monday 8 April.
There is also the opportunity to network at an informal drinks reception on Monday 8April, a sponsored wine trail on the opening evening of the show, Tuesday 9 April, and the gala dinner on Wednesday 10 April. The gala dinner promises an evening of live entertainment and fine cuisine in a historical setting.
Firmly established as one of the important international events in the ocean technology calendar, Ocean Business 2013 is expected to attract over 4,000 visitors from more than 50 countries. The event will deliver an exhibition with over 300 leading manufacturers and service providers. Over 180 hours of live, free to attend training and demonstration workshops on vessels, at the dockside, in test tanks and in seminar rooms are also on offer.
