Career opportunities in ocean technology
Graduates and students will be given the chance to meet potential employees face to face at this year’s Ocean Careers event, taking place between 9 and 11 April 2013 at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton, UK.
The three day event, which is running alongside the Ocean Business technology exhibition and training forum, will provide students with career information within the ocean technology, marine science and offshore industry sectors.
The aim of the event is to give graduates and students studying engineering, science or mathematics, as well as those that have already opted to study marine related subjects, the chance to learn more about the global opportunities on offer in the industry which has seen continuous growth and a rapid development in ocean survey and research technologies.
It will also give them the chance to find out more about grant funding schemes and gain an understanding on what employers are looking for.
Marie Shipman, who manages the Ocean Careers event, said: “The event is a great opportunity to bring industry experts and employees together, whilst providing a great insight into the heart of industry at the Ocean Business event. We look forward to an inspirational three days.”
The event combines presentations from professionals in the industries with a series of one on one speed meetings at which industry experts and potential employees get the opportunity to make contacts.
The event is supported by the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA), Society of Underwater Technology (SUT) and the UK Hydrographic Society, among others.
