J J Sietas uses Nupas-Cadmatic
German based shipyard, J J Sietas, has used international software company, Nupas-Cadmatic, for its offshore windfarm transport and installation vessel, being built for the Netherlands’ Van Oord.
The shipyard says that by using Nupas-Cadmatic, it was able to reduce the design and engineering time of the jack up to a minimum.
The vessel, which has been designed to operate near the coast in offshore windfarms, will be available in two types: type 187 to carry loads up to 900 tonnes and type 187a, designed to carry loads up to 1200 tonnes.
The 139m ships, which will have a top speed of 12 knots, will use four 4320 kW diesel electric engines to power two 2500 kW bow thrusters, two 2500 kW stern thrusters and four 2500 kW electric engines for propulsion. This will give the vessels flexible manoeuvrability while installing wind turbines, independently from tugs.
Both will be also equipped with NMF cranes to give high flexibility when loading in ports and will provide accommodation for 74 crew members.
The first vessel, to be named Aeolus, is due to be launched in the first quarter of 2013.
