GeoSea secures two new contracts
GeoSea, specialised company of Belgium’s Dredging, Environmental and Marine Engineering (DEME) Group, has secured two new contracts for the UK and German windfarms Westermost Rough and Borkum Riffgrund 1 respectively.
Under the contract for Westermost Rough, the company will drive 35 large foundation pipes for Denmark’s DONG Energy, the largest operator of offshore windfarms. GeoSea will use mega jack-up vessel, Innovation, for the work. The project, which is due to start in spring 2014, will be the first commercial project where the new Siemens 6 MW turbine will be installed.
The second contract is also for DONG Energy, to install 77 foundations with scour protection at Borkum Riffgrund 1. For driving the piles and installing the transition pieces, which will also be carried out in 2014, GeoSea will use the installation vessel, Pacific Orca. Siemens 3.6 MW turbines will be installed later on these foundations.
GeoSea says these contracts will ensure growth in the coming years, allowing the company to forecast an average yearly turnover of €350m to €400m in 2013 and 2014.
These contracts come as DEME works on the Northwind and C-Power offshore windfarms off the Belgian coast.
