Multiple seismic ventures for Dolphin
Dolphin Geophysical of Bergen is currently completing 5,000 sq/km of seismic surveys in sectors of the UK Continental Shelf.
It is also working in the Barents Sea and has secured a further raft of similar contracts including a three year call-off agreement with Shell in Europe. Other undertakings cover prospective 3D surveys for Genel in Morocco, Centrica in the North Sea and Statoil in Tanzania.
The Norwegian company, which only began offshore operations in 2011, is already claiming a specialist leadership supported by a fleet of four multi-purpose vessels. A further two high-end 3D seismic newbuildings chartered from neighbouring GC Rieber Shipping, Sanco Swift and Geo Atlantic, are due to be commissioned later this year. Also to be chartered in March 2015 will be a new £85m 22streamer seismic vessel under construction at the Kleven Verft yard in Norway. With an overall length of 113m and 21.5m width, it is designed to accommodate 70 personnel.
