Solace Global supports UK changes
The UKs private maritime securty company (PMSC), Solace Global Mariitme, is supporting the UK’s input for changes to the international management standards, BS EN ISO9001.
The company has been called upon to advise the QS1 Quality Committee on proposed changes which aim to eliminate misinterpretation and confusion caused by the existing working of the standard.
Tony Hanson, Solace’s quality, health and environmental manager, told Maritime Journal: “The changes being proposed to BS EN ISO9001 will be based upon business performance, risk analysis and customer focus.”
“This will have a positive affect on all markets, including the commercial and leisure markets, as the standard will be more obtainable for businesses and integrate seamlessly with other management systems whilst also enabling continual improvement,” he added.
Although the planned changes will not come into effect until 2015, Solace says it is likely to be one of the most significant changes seen to the standard since its move from BS 5750 in 1987.
Having obtained certification to BS EN ISO9001 in July 2011, Solace has continued to invest in integrated management systems, with certification to OHSAS 18001 and BS EN 14001 following in 2012. It has also helped to develop ISO PAS 28007, Guidelines for Private Maritime Security Companies (PMSCs).
