Mustang Marine expansion
The UK boatbuilder Mustang Marine is planning to create 100 jobs as part of a £1.5m expansion following strong global orders – a move that will double its workforce.
The company is building a new boat building fabrication hall at Pembroke Port, the first major investment in Haven Waterway Enterprise Zone, on the back of an investment made by the Port of Milford Haven, Pembroke Port’s owner.
Kevin Lewis, founder and managing director, Mustang Marine, said: “This is fantastic news for the local economy. Once these buildings are completed we expect to at least double the number of jobs from the more than one hundred skilled men and women we have here today.”
Mustang says that it now has customers as far afield as China and Africa and that the expansion should see its operations double in size over the next three years.
The wider Haven Waterway Enterprise Zone project is all part of the trust port’s major project around Milford Haven that will create a new destination focussed on the marine-leisure, retail and fishing industries – all aimed at getting the economy moving again and regenerating the area.
Mustang Marine will be unveiling its new first in class Supacat SMV24 through deck aluminium catamaran at Seawork international this year.
