CWind orders second CTruk workboat
The UK’s offshore windfarm constructor and maintenance company, CWind, has ordered a second CWhisper ‘Swath’ workboat from CTruk Boats Ltd.
The CWhisper Swath, an innovative 19.5m composite workboat, has been designed to cut through waves, dramatically improving transit comfort in rough seas.
CWind already operates a vessel of the same design, the CWind Astute, which features CTruk’s moveable wheelhouse and pod system. Launched in August last year, the vessel is used for work on the London Array offshore windfarm.
CTruk says it is refining the design of the vessel to optimise performance and sea keeping.
Peter Jørgensen, managing director, CWind, said: “The Swath significantly increases the wave height limits for technician transfer, keeping weather days to a minimum. That and an impressive measured fuel consumption of 100 litres per hour at 20 knots made her an effective vessel.”
“As we expand our services to other offshore windfarms around the UK and Europe, we are keen to offer these benefits further afield, and a second Swath will enable us to do that,” he added.
The new workboat is expected to be delivered at the end of November 2013.
