Free ENC viewer
Hamburg based Geomaris, which specialises in analysis, processing and presentation of geospatial data for marine navigation operations, is now offering a free Electronic Nautical Chart (ENC) viewer for downloading from its website (www.geomaris.com).
Geomaris says the viewer is a tool for displaying unencrypted ENCs available in the approved S-57 exchange format. Files are imported into the viewer’s repository and can then be selected for display in compliance with present IHO Ecdis presentation conditions. Features for object highlighting and so-called pick reports are included.
The company says it plans to release in October an e-Navigation kernel enabling manfacturers to develop applications for display of navigational vector charts.
