Jaya tug for Atlantic Towing
Jaya Holdings Limited is set to deliver a second state of the art anchor handling tug supply vessel to Canada’s Atlantic Towing Limited by the end of 2013.
The Jaya Sovereign is a sister ship of Jaya Supreme (renamed Atlantic Kestrel), which was delivered to Atlantic Towing in November 2012.
“We have been very pleased with all aspects of the performance of the Atlantic Kestrel since it’s delivery including the vessel specification, operation and the workmanship,” said Wayne Power, vice president, Atlantic Towing.
“We are sure the acquisition of the Atlantic Merlin (Jaya Sovereign) will prove to be just as successful and we look forward to receiving and operating another excellent vessel,” he added.
The Jaya Sovereign’s has been designed with a 22m beam to give it strong stability in the rough seas of the North Atlantic. Built with Dynpos-AUTR dynamic positioning (DP), the vessel is fitted with two bow thrusters and two in the stern.
The vessel also features a 400 tonne line pull Brattvaag anchor handling and towing winch, additional spooling capacity for deepwater work, twin sets of shark’s jaws, towing pins and two remote control travelling cranes.
Atlantic Towing says it will use the Comf-V (3) class vessel to meet the increase in demand for Arctic Sea drilling.
