Seawork Innovation winners
The Seawork Innovation Awards were presented on Tuesday night by BBC TV’s Sally Taylor at the new-format networking event, sponsored by ZF Marine.
The prestigious Spirit of Innovation Trophy was presented to Filtertechnik for its Particle Pal, a self-contained, battery operated field kit that passes oil or fuel through a laser particle counter.
The category winners were as follows:
Propulsion: Filtertechnik
Marine Equipment: Guy Cotten UK – Drempro Jacket & Drembib Trousers
Safety: NRG Marine – PFE 1/2/3 range of Fire Extinguishers
Special commendation to Maretron for its Vessel Data Recorder.
The Seawork Lifetime Achievement award was presented to Norman Finlay.
Sally Taylor introduced the Seawork Lifetime Achievement Award and commented: “(Mr Finlay) was instrumental in forming the National Workboat Association in 1994 and the DOT/MCA Workboat Code of Practice, which came into force in 1997.”
“He has continued to lobby for the very specific needs of a Workboat Code of Practice which is now the Brown Code, launched by the MCA at Seawork.”
