Spanish motorway
A new Motorway of the Sea between Ireland’s Port of Cork and Gijon in Spain was called for at the Ireland-Iberia Trade and Transport Round Table in Dublin last month.
Irish calls for a direct sea freight connection with Spain were seen as way to boost flagging exports to that market.
Last year Irish exports to Spain amounted to €2.9bn, down by €400m from the €3.3bn of exports in 2007.
