Gemini rising

Netherlands based marine contractor Van Oord has announced its intention to acquire an equity stake of 10% in the Gemini offshore wind park, to be built 60km from the coast of the Dutch Schiermonnikoog island.

Northland Power Inc (NPI), the Canadian producer of sustainable energy, announced that together with Siemens Project Ventures GmbH (Siemens), HVC NV, Typhoon Offshore BV and Van Oord Dredging and Marine Contractors BV, it will be developing, constructing and operating the Gemini offshore windfarm.

Construction will start in early 2015 and the project will be fully operational in 2017. The 600 MW wind park consists of 150 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 4 MW and supplying electricity to more than 785,000 households.
