CWind completes windfarm works

The company is well known for its expertise in the offshore wind sector. It decided to take advantage of a gap in the market for the supply of offshore wind technicians a few years back. It has since provided support to 17 UK offshore windfarms, including Lincs and London Array.

Peter Jorgenson, managing director, CWind, said: “To know that both our technicians and our vessels have made an important contribution to their construction and commissioning is confirmation that we made the right call back then.”

CWind provided turbine technicians to the Lincs project who were responsible for installation and completion of the turbines. But it also supplied three CTruk 20T MPCs for crew and equipment transfer which have been working at the site for the last year. They have also served as refuelling vessels for the generators used on site.

The company also worked in partnership with CT Offshore to lay the array cables at the windfarm.

Lincs Offshore Windfarm was opened earlier this month by the UK’s Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg. It sits five miles off the coast of Skegness and has 75 turbines which will provide enough energy to power the equivalent of two thirds of the houses in Lincolnshire.
