Fassmer LNG ferry
Germany’s Fassmer shipyard has reportedly won a contract to design and manufacture a new dual-fuelled LNG Helgoland ferry for the Cassen Eils shipping company.
The €30m ferry will be the first German flagged vessel equipped with LNG technology.
Although the duel-fuel system will use LNG as a primary fuel, it will be able to switch back to conventional diesel if required.
The vessel will measure in at nearly 80m long and achieve a cruising speed of up to 20 knots. It will provide space for cargo as well as passengers and should be completed in April 2015.
