Twin Axe delivery for Njord Offshore
UK-based Njord Offshore has received the its first 26m Twin Axe CTV built by Damen Shipyards and customised to the company’s requirements.
Over seven weeks, Damen made a number of modifications to a basic, standard vessel, which it keeps in stock.
Njord Alpha features a different railing layout on the fore deck to create a larger loading area, a second generator set and a fuel transfer system. In addition, the windows have been increased by 50% for high visibility, while the vessel has also been equipped with a 25 tonne knuckle boom crane.
Njord says thanks to the modifications, the new vessel brings additional load lugging capability and excellent ride comfort for further offshore windfarms.
Damen has also altered the vessel to include a high pressure washer, two galleys and pantries and semi-enclosed the fore deck grating to minimise spray.
Njord Offshore was set up in 2011 and focuses on the offshore wind industry. It currently operates nine vessels ranging from 21m to 26m, with further fleet expansion due in 2015.
