MMS delivers first overseas cat
UK-based MMS Ship Repair and Dry Dock Co Ltd has delivered its first overseas mini multipurpose catamaran to Saqr Port Authority, Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE.
The Envirocat Harbour is the first in a range of port and harbour workboats designed, developed and built by MMS.
The 9m, marine grade aluminium catamaran built to MECAL classification, is capable of performing a range of general workboat duties.
In addition, it is fitted with pollution control equipment to allow for the removal of oil pollution from the water’s surface, as well as the collection of floating debris.
MMS’s catamaran uses a skimming belt systems which, once lowered into position, collects the oil from between the vessel’s hulls with a capability of storing up to four tonnes of waste oil. Floating debris can be picked up with the forward located hydraulic scoop, sorted and subsequently removed with the vessel’s crane.
The company says the vessel is simple and safe to operate and requires minimum crew training.
One of MMS’ multipurpose catamarans will be on show at Mercator Media Ltd’s Seawork Exhibition taking place on 10 to 12 June at ABP’s Port of Southampton. Visit the company on stands SR9 and V37.
