Fifth Danish Yachts Cat SWATH launched
Danish Yachts A/S of Skagen, Denmark have launched their fifth 24m carbon fibre SWATH vessel in a little over 12 months, following the delivery of four offshore wind vessels to Odfjell Wind in 2013.
The SWATH vessel has a ballast system allowing it to operate as a catamaran or in SWATH mode. Danish Yachts describe this as their ‘second generation’ SWATH, and it boasts a 15% reduction in weight over the original design to improve fuel efficiency, range, speed and stability. A new wheelhouse configuration has also been introduced with improved visibility through 360 degrees and is intended to improve operations out at sea, particularly when landing against the wind turbines.
This latest SWATH is destined for E.ON once its formal pre-handover sea trials have been completed.
