ITES addresses industry issues

The upcoming International Tidal Energy Summit, taking place in November, will be addressing key issues and new developments of the fast-growing sector.

Now in its eighth year, the event will look at cost reduction and risk mitigation, policy and financial commitment, global project updates and success stories, commercial strategy and upscaling, technical developments and installation, environment and O&M within the sector, which is quickly gathering momentum – it’s estimated to reach US$10.1bn by 2020 with 3,712MW of installed capacity.

Visitors will also be able to attend 30 expert sessions including a discussion on mapping out a clear development path for projects from contract structure to internal business strategy, given by Dan Pearson, CEO of MayGen and Tim Cornelius, CEO of Atlantis.

John Callaghan, wave and tidal programme manager, Crown Estate, will also share latest insight on the Crown Estate’s growing appetite for investment, what risk elements they consider when becoming involved and using the benefit of hindsight from offshore wind, while Kurt Kaltenegger, group vice president, head of technology at ABB Technology Ventures will detail how the tidal marine sector can employ creative strategies to get projects commercialised and bankable faster.

The event takes place in London from 24 to 26 November 2014.
