Monitoring system performance
Siemens is helping to improve energy and maintenance costs for workboat fleet operators with its EcoMain system platform.
The operational management system collects data such as temperature, speed, pressure and navigational coordinates and consolidates it in a common database enabling energy consumption, emissions, bunkering of liquids and maintenance schedules to be evaluated and optimised.
The EcoMain on-board system can be connected to the EcoMain ashore fleet system via a secure satellite connection to enable system diagnostics to be accessed, making it possible to react quickly to any fault occurring during a voyage.
Maintenance applications calculate the number of repairs and the repair costs per annum determining the optimum time for maintenance using historical operational data.
The system also evaluates the total specific fuel oil consumption in kg/nm (nautical mile) and calculates specific energy consumption in kWh/nm.
Emission applications can display the specific emissions of pollutants, such as sulphur, nitrogen and carbon dioxides in kg/nm.
