Sea Tech Week Brest
The 9th edition of Sea Tech Week ended on a high, with visitor numbers exceeding previous editions and the audience taking on an even more international flavour. This years new features have borne fruit too, with very positive feedback from the B to B meetings as well as increased student participation.
Some 1,357 participants registered for the 16 conferences and 37 exhibitors participated in the show. Total audience figures reached some 2,000 people.
MARINE ENERGIES, BIOTECHNOLOGIES AND MARINE SCIENCES
The conferences on offer during Sea Tech Week showcased a very diverse range of formats and themes. There was great public appeal for the themes of marine energies, e-navigation as well as biotechnologies (Biosciences 29 and Idealg). Marine Energy Brest, with some 350 entries over 3 days, racked up the largest participation rate. Meantime, the central conference, Deep Blue Days, attracted a highly international audience to its top-flight presentations, the high point of which was the speech by HRH Prince Albert II of Monaco.
The dual nationality project, Marine Brazil II, focusing on marine sciences, gathered together a host of researchers from Brazil, France and other countries. A follow-up edition has already been planned for this project, which was created in 2013 in Buzios in Brazil. Sea Tech Week was an opportunity to bolster the collaboration between the two countries with regards to common research projects.
ENTHUSIASTIC FEEDBACK FROM THE B TO B BUSINESS MEETINGS
The B to B business meetings, managed by Bretagne Développement Innovation, were one of the new features of this edition. The principle behind them is a platform, entitled Enterprise Europe Network, where participants were able to schedule their meetings in the run-up to the event. In this way, around thirty meetings were held on 16 October. The feedback has been very positive, highlighting the quality of the exchanges.
