Henshaw inflatables service contract
SERVICE CONTRACT: Henshaw Inflatables Ltd has clinched a deal with Babcock International and the Ministry of Defence for the repair and service of a range of its inflatable vessels.
The contract will include the repair and service of all of the Nominated Inflatable Class boats to include the Zodiac 4.7m raiding craft, W525 mine clearance inflatables and 5.2m inflatable boats.
As a result of the three year contract, Henshaw has further increased its factory space to a total of 35,000ft2 and has employed an additional four full time members of staff.
Chris Hornidge, managing director, Henshaw Inflatables, told Maritime Journal that the company has also expanded into some new areas in the marine trade.
One growth area Henshaw is currently involved is the offshore windfarm industry and in particular the development of inflatable barriers to restrict noise and vibrations when piles are being sunk into the seabed.
The firm has also been producing inflatable storage tanks for the offshore oil industry in case of spillage. With capacities ranging from 10 up to 150 tonnes, they can be towed at up to five knots to a safe place for oil recovery.
“These examples of new work is as a result of our wish to broaden the scope of our products, and not rely purely on the leisure and commercial RIB business, which has been the mainstay of the company for a number of years,” Mr Hornidge told MJ.
