Safehaven cat for Norway
Safehaven Marine have just launched ‘Feminin’ the latest of their Wildcat 53 catamarans supplied to Fonnes Battservice of Norway. The vessel has been designed for multiple operational roles of crew transfer, pilotage and passenger carrying around the Fjords and oil platforms off Bergen, Norway, and has been built to class under the strict Norwegian maritime authorities requirements, with the hull built under survey by Lloyds.
When operating as a passenger vessel it is licensed to carry up to 18 passengers. ‘Feminin’ is unique from previous versions in having a larger foredeck extending down the cabin sides to allow safe transfer of personal and pilots when operating in pilotage and moving ship crew transfers, a Hadrian safety rail extends up the sides and around the bow to facilitate safe movement of passengers. The vessel is very heavily fendered for transfers in rough weather and features Safehaven’s sacrificial shoulder fender system, and in addition the vessel can undertake f/wd transfers via a heavily fendered reinforced bow. The design features a large working aft deck which has been fitted with a Palfinger PK4501 hydraulic knuckle crane.
Other design features include forward and aft towing points allowing the vessel to impart a 8.5 tonne tested bollard pull.
