JRC unveils new compact radar
Japan’s JRC is extending its range of radars for commercial vessels with the introduction of a new compact radar, the JMA 1030.
Although it’s focused on products for larger vessels in recent years, this latest development has been developed specifically for the smaller commercial vessels.
The new radar, for which no type approval is needed, features a seven inch, bright colour screen, full touch control and a clear user interface. The company says it offers a better range performance due to a standard high output power of 4kW and multi-speed, high performing scanners whose rotation speed can be adjusted to the conditions.
In addition, it features a mini-arpa (automatic radar plotting aid) that calculates the possibility of a collision and a handy AIS overlay, so AIS targets can be projected over the radar image.
JRC says it’s also a cost effective solutions since only the radar needs replacing, while the plotter, navtex and wind meter still perform well.
Alphatron Marine BV represents JRC as part of its strategic partnership signed earlier this year.
