SCTW training at Southampton Airport
UK-based OMT Training Ltd now offers its own Maritime Coastguard Agency, STCW Basic Training Course that aims to help students gain the qualifications needed for the industry.
There are five elements to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) course: elementary first aid, fire prevention and firefighting, personal survival techniques, personal safety and social responsibilities including proficiency in security awareness.
Held at Southampton Airport on the south coast of the UK, in collaboration with the Fire Service at the airport, OMT says this new course and the training location will be the gateway to many maritime companies and individuals within the UK and further afield.
The airport’s location on the south coast of the UK means that the course can be offered on a ‘fly in, fly out’ basis, making it easily accessible from the north of England, the Channel Islands, Scotland, Ireland and Europe.
The course has already been taken by candidates from Amsterdam, Isle of Man and Edinburgh.
OMT says this latest MCA course boosts its MCA training portfolio which also includes courses in medical care and medical first aid, approved engine course, fast rescue boat.
