Hybrid power workshop
A two-day workshop on hybrid power and propulsion will bring the marine industry together for round table discussions and presentations on everything from battery management systems to windfarm vessel development.
UK-based training and consultancy company, Shock Mitigation, is holding the two-day workshop to identify the potential of hybrid systems for specific sectors, starting with diesel/electric for windfarm support vessels, pilot boats, patrol craft, survey vessels and unmanned craft.
The Hybrid Workshop Programme includes four round table sessions and presentations by XALT Energy on battery management systems and hybrid automotive and lithium ion technology; Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB); BAE Systems HybriDrive on hybrid propulsion and auxiliary power systems; Torqeedo on developing high-power integrated propulsion systems for serial production; Hybrid Marine on innovative hybrid systems for small craft; Alicat & South Boats IOW on the development of windfarm industry and how vessels are evolving; C-Fury on innovative power and propulsion; and MAN Engines on integrating IMO Tier 3 engines into the hybrid system.
The workshop is being held at the Grand Harbour Hotel Southampton on 13 and 14 May.
