ABP Humber takes delivery of R2Sonic 2024
Swathe Services has delivered a multibeam sonar solution to the Hydrographic Department at Associated British Ports Humber.
After reviewing several systems, and a series of challenging demonstrations, ABP Humber chose the Sonic 2024 with ultra-high resolution and raw water column options for their survey vessel Humber Sounder.
Located at the Port of Hull, ABP Humber is the UK’s leading softwood timber port and the focus of the Humber’s burgeoning renewable energy sector. It also caters for containers, ferry travel and ro-ro vessels, as well as a range of bulk commodities.
The River Humber drains one fifth of the area of England. Its turbid waters are particularly demanding for sonar systems and make it one of the most difficult areas in which to undertake hydrographic operations in the UK. Swathe Services was, therefore, particularly pleased to be able to include the Sonic 2024’s new ultra-high density and pipeline modes in their trial.
