Associated British Ports is reported to be planning a major expansion of facilities around Hull’s Alexandra Dock in anticipation of becoming a major hub for the offshore windfarm industry.

The port is planning construction of a 600m long quay on the River Humber, the reclamation of 8 hectares of foreshore and a dredging campaign to create the necessary water depth at berths for windfarm vessels.

A three-year construction programme is due to get underway at the end of November. The new facility is due to come onstream in July 2014.
