Actuator upgrade

Seaway Powell Marine, a British engineering company specialising in the design and manufacture of marine hydraulic systems, has announced the full-line upgrade of their widely-applied electric cylinder.

Electro mechanical actuators are an alternative to hydraulic rams

Chris Oswald, President of Precision Technology USA, says: “I am delighted to announce the upgrade of the V Series of ram style linear actuators. Combining power with incredible flexibility, these actuators provide excellent value for money. The V Series will be available throughout the world with main assembly and design authority in Virginia, USA, but assembly, sales, service and support through our sister companies, Seaway Powell Marine in the UK and Hypac in Australia.”

Originally designed and built by PT-USA at their headquarters in Virginia, USA, the V Series actuator is the most flexible and durable ram-style actuator in the standard product portfolio. From food grade versions to drive screw technology options, the V Series is a rugged, flexible, low-maintenance actuator platform for thrust, speed and position control.

Designed as a hydraulic cylinder replacement, the V Series actuator is an electro-mechanical ram-style actuator that is a low maintenance alternative to fluid power cylinders. This style of actuator is intended for when there is a high concentration of airborne contaminants, when moving a load that pivots or when applying force to an already externally supported load.

The V Series is more compact with a reduced weight design that is also compliant with ISO standard rod end solutions. According to Seaway Powell, when combined with modern servo motors and controls, electro-mechanical actuation provides nearly infinite programmability, reduced set-up times and improved control of speed, acceleration, deceleration, force and position.
