Bomb Threat Detection for Ports
Leicestershire UK based 3DX-Ray has produceda detailed technical brochure on its advanced portable x-ray system, TPXi-675,for bomb and threat detection in suspect packages.
The TPXi-675 is a portable x-ray system designed specifically for bomb and threat detection. It offers excellent image clarity and can fit into tight corners. Being highly portable and quick to deploy it can help combat the terrorist’s increased reliance on perceived ‘soft’ targets such as ports, areas of which may have high levels pedestrian traffic, such as in cruise terminals.
Weighing just 6.5kg for the source and 8kg for the detector, it is easy to transport and place, even when the user is wearing heavy protection. It is already used by police authorities in London and claims to provide the largest detection area (around 53cm x 41cm) currently available.
The detector is just 5cm thick so it can slip into very narrow gaps behind suspect packages. Previously the simple trick of placing a package near a wall would mean x-ray systems possibly could not be used.
The system use secure WiFi communications so that the operator can retire to a safe distance after just a few seconds, yet can still control the system and view the resultant x-ray images.
