Clean air and SmartStart control at Seawork

Suitable for vessels of all sizes, the Breathe Easy Air Purifier provides an easy and cost effective solution to reduce unpleasant airborne odours and contaminants onboard including mould spores, mildew, bacteria, chemical and toilet fumes.

The technologically advanced and quiet system is available in two models for installation into any space onboard. The compact and lightweight portable unit is suitable for individual cabin spaces and the in line ductable unit is fitted directly into the vessel’s air conditioning system to purifiy larger spaces.

The Breathe Easy Air Purifier is proven to reduce volatile organic compounds (VOC) by 57% and formaldehyde levels by 41% within a six hour period. The solution uses unique Photocatalytic Nano-Mesh technology to clean and transform airborne contaminants, providing fresher and healthier air onboard.

The Breathe Easy unit received a Special Mention at the prestigious DAME Awards 2009, which was held during Europe’s key marine equipment trade show, METS. Dometic Marine also launches the SmartStart Control to the European commercial marine market at Seawork. The SmartStart is a single-phase compressor motor startup control that can reduce the startup current surge by up to 65%. By smoothing the startup power demand, the SmartStart helps to preserve the vessel’s generator, ensuring a longer life and eliminating the cost of upgrading to a larger system.

By reducing startup surge by as much as 65%, the SmartStart control provides a gentler method of handling a current surge, which can mean the difference between an operator keeping the existing generator or having to invest in a larger one’, added Paul Hickinbotham.

The current surge or spike can occur whenever an air conditioning system cycles on, possibly causing flickering lights and tripped circuit breakers. In extreme cases, the current surge can cause the generator output voltage to momentarily reduce or even shut down. When this happens, the air conditioning compressor can stall and fail to start. The damage caused to the compressor over time due to these failed startup attempts can be reduced by using SmartStart.

The SmartStart control is suitable for an extensive range of applications including commercial marine and workboat and is available through the Cruisair and Marine Air distribution channels.
