Sea1 Offshore orders new renewable energy vessels

Sea1 Offshore has ordered two next-generation Offshore Support Vessels (OSVs) from Cosco Shipping in China, advancing its growth strategy in the energy sector.

“We’re seeing increased demand for vessels that can support renewable energy projects, and these vessels are built to meet that demand.”

Clean and flexible

Each vessel, measuring 120 metres in length and featuring a 1,400-square-metre cargo deck, will be fully equipped to support various offshore operations.

Expected for delivery in 2027, the vessels are designed to accommodate up to 120 personnel, feature a 250-tonne deck crane, an ROV hangar, and a moonpool.

With these builds, Sea1 Offshore will expand its fleet to 19, supporting both traditional oil and gas operations as well as the growing renewable energy market, particularly offshore wind.

Sea1’s vessel builds prioritise reduced emissions and flexibility, with both vessels following the advanced ST-245 design. They are methanol-ready and generators can operate on 100% biofuel, aligning with Sea1’s dedication to sustainable practices.

With an optimistic outlook for the offshore sector, Sea1 is in discussions with Cosco Shipping for additional vessels, aiming to meet the rising demand and capitalise on favourable chartering rates for modern, versatile vessels in the market.
