Hybrid tug design advances offshore capability

Spanish shipbuilder Gondan Shipbuilders has contracted Finnish propulsion specialist Steerprop to supply hybrid-capable azimuth units for a high-performance hybrid tug.

The 150-tonne bollard pull vessel, destined for Østensjø Rederi, is the first tug from naval architect Skipsteknisk, is designed for demanding offshore towage and DP2 dynamic positioning operations.
