Fendercare to kit out naval OPVs
Fendercare Marine has signed a significant contract to supply rudder components and deck equipment for three new Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs) being built for the UK Royal Navy.
The contract for BAE Systems Naval Ships includes rudder blades, rudder stocks, sleeves/liners for rudder stock, anchors, chain for the vessels.

Production of the new OPVs commenced in October 2014 at BAE Systems’ facility in Govan, Glasgow. The 90m OPV is based on a proven BAE Systems design which is already in service with the Brazilian Navy and Royal Thai Navy.
Fendercare Marine was chosen for this contract based on their past experience working with BAE Systems and track record of working on the Amazonas class vessels.
The company has supplied fenders and marine hardware to the MoD since 1999 and also supports navies throughout the world, winning a US$29m contract with the US Navy in 2012.
From its base in the Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth, Fendercare Marine’s Naval Solutions division provides fabrication, welding and coating services for the MoD, having previously worked on nuclear submarines, warships and naval support vessels.
