First Easydredge launched for stock
Royal IHC (IHC) successfully launched the first Easydredge 2700 last month. It is the first vessel in the companys range of competitively priced standard trailing suction hopper dredgers.
The launch took place at the shipyard of IHC’s partner, MTG Dolphin, in Varna, Bulgaria.The new vessel will be delivered in the summer of this year, supplied with a ‘world-dredging package’ which includes bottom doors, a bow coupling and a dredging depth of 25m. This makes the vessel suitable for a wide range of tasks, from the maintenance of ports and channels to land reclamation. The 2700 sits in the middle of the new Easydredge range which also includes 1600 and 3700 models.
Fer Tummers, managing director of IHC’s Dredging Division told Maritime Journal: “The construction of the vessel is going well and is on schedule. We have been encouraged by the extensive interest from the market in our Easydredge range. Building a TSHD for stock has been a logical step forward for IHC and we are convinced that it will bring added value and benefits to our customers, including extremely short delivery times.”
The 81.75m LOA Easydredge 2700 has a beam of 15.8m and a draught of 4.4m. It will fill its 2,700 m3 capacity hopper through a single 700mm diameter suction pipe, capable of working to depths of 25m. The vessel will sail at 11.5 knots and has daytime accommodation for eight people.
